Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage is a form of bodywork that is used as a healing therapy for the body and the mind. Using both gentle and deeper strokes, massage works the muscles and connective tissue to promote circulation, relaxation and relieve pain. Weekly sessions are most beneficial, but even monthly or   bi-monthly massages can help improve ones life with less pain and improved outlook on life. Many people report that they sleep better, have fewer headaches and migraines, are calmer and feel less depressed, and can move and breathe more easily with regular massage. Be prepared to drink lots of water after a massage as it will help to rid the body of the toxins that are loosened up by massage.

Types of Massage Therapy That We Offer

Swedish Massage is a gentle form of massage that works the superficial muscles of the body to promote relaxation and improve circulation. It aids in the removal of lactic acid and waste products from the muscles that cause pain and that achey feeling, especially after a workout. Essential oils are used, if applicable, to help relax, relieve pain and detoxify the body.

Deep Tissue Therapy is just that. A deeper form of massage that works specific muscles and 'trigger' or pain points to help alleviate pain and tension. Often an entire session is on a specific area of the body, shoulders, neck, etc..

Shiatsu is a form of accupressure massage from Japan. Gentle to deep pressure is applied with the palms of the hands and fingers along the meridians of the body, the same as acupuncture meridians, to relax the muscles and push out toxins. Shiatsu helps to balance the deficiencies and excesses of energy that cause pain and weakness in the body. The client remains clothed for this modality and should wear loose comfortable clothing to the massage.

Aromatherapy using pure therapeutic grade essential oils can be added to any session to help promote specific results. Relaxation, detoxification, depression and pain issues are a few of the issues that can be addressed with aromatherapy.
